In December 2009 my wife and I took to the air just before dawn across the river from Luxor. As we rose above the age-old Nile and the Valley of the Kings and Queens, the sun emerged in glowing splendor out of Arabia. I have been to remote places and done some edgy things like climbing the Shackleton trail on South Georgia Island in the Sub-Antarctic, as well as some active volcano climbs, but nothing quite compares with our Balloon ascent in Egypt What I thought would be a cheap-thrills tourist experience turned out to be one of those life enhancing moments that one never forgets. Our captain and crew were competent and professional. If you have the time and money by all means do it.
